e-Clear sanitizes the water and not the swimmer. With e-Clear the powerful disinfecting oxidizers, OH, H2O2 and O1, are produced within a sealed oxygen chamber away from the swimmer rather than in the swimming pool itself.

Oxygen rich water is healthy water. The e-Clear technology mimics nature by producing high saturation levels of O2 in the swimming pool which leaves water sanitized, crystal clear and pure, without the use of toxic chemicals.

How does it sanitize the water?

HOCL is harmful and attacks the skin, hair and eyes of swimmers, leaving eyes red and skin and hair dried out and brittle.

 
Does it form disinfection by products (DBPs)?

No DBPs are formed.   Yes, a highly reactive gas, chlorine rapidly binds organic matter in water to form harmful organo-chlorines or DBPs such as the Trihalomethanes (THMs).

The predominant THM is Chloroform (Class 2A carcinogen).

Chloroform is volatile and absorbed mainly through inhalation and the skin.

THMs in water is linked to increased risk of bladder and other cancers and birth defects.

Chlorine is a greenhouse gas.

How efficient is the sanitation in heated water?

Due to the high oxidation output e-clear is highly efficient in heated water, even at temperatures exceeding 32oC.

Copper ionization, which is unaffected by heat, provides a lasting residual even in warm water.

Is the sanitation pH dependent?

Yes, pH must be managed and maintained at neutral pH, i.e. pH6.8 - 7.2.

pH is very stable due to high levels of Dissolved Oxygen and absence of aggressive chemicals in the water, so e-Clear pools require ~ 10x less HCL than chlorine pools.

Oxidation efficiency decreases above pH7.2. pH management is required to maintain pH below 7.2. Pool acid, a food grade HCL or citric acid is recommended. Since the pH reaction goes to completion immediately the water remains chemical free.

No alkaline management required. Even if pH drops to 6.8 water remains soft, gentle and non-corrosive since water is chemical free.

pH sensitive with optimal range between pH 7.2 and 7.6.

Requires acid and alkaline management.

Above pH7.6 oxidation efficiency decreases rapidly due to reduction in HOCL oxidizer levels.

How corrosive is it?

Not corrosive.

e-Clear produces oxygen in the water. Oxygen converts calcium in the water to a bicarbonate form which softens the water. Adds years of life to filtration equipment.

 
  Chlorine pools produce HOCL oxidizers in the water which are very corrosive. Flexi pipe on skimmers will eventually strangle themselves blocking flow rate. Pumps, metallic parts on filters will corrode.

 

The e-Clear technology is effective against E.coli, Coliforms, Enterococci, Pseudomonas, Giardia, viruses, algae and chlorine resistant organisms such as Legionella and Cryptosporidium.
